RALPH PUCCI: THE ART OF THE MANNEQUIN

Ralph Pucci: The Art of the Mannequin will be the first museum exhibition to explore the work of renowned New York-based designer Ralph Pucci, who is widely regarded for his innovative approach to the familiar form of the mannequin. Having collaborated with luminaries such as Diane von Furstenberg, Patrick Naggar, Andrée Putman, Kenny Scharf, Anna Sui, Isabel and Ruben Toledo and Christy Turlington, Pucci’s mannequins not only expand the parameters of this ubiquitous sculptural form, but reflect major cultural trends of the past three decades.


PAPER

"Running now through August 21st, the exhibition explores the myriad ways in which artists use paper as a medium. The exhibition includes sixteen works by eleven artists: Rosalyn Drexler, Paul Feeley, Mark Greenwold, Ralph Humphrey, Nicholas Krushenick, Al Loving, Gladys Nilsson, Matthew Palladino, Howardena Pindell, Norbert Prangenberg, and Richard Van Buren. Many of them have never before been exhibited."
 


VERA PAINTS A RAINBOW

Alexander Gray Associates, 510 West 26th Street 

Alexander Gray Associates presents Vera Paints a Rainbow, an exhibition of artworks by Vera Neumann (b.1907, Stamford, CT – d.1993, North Tarrytown, NY), created between the 1960s and 1980s. The presentation focuses on the artist’s use of color as means to express emotions through compositions characterized by a colorful palette. The works on view, organized following the rainbow spectrum—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet—emphasize Neumann’s rich use of color, which in her words, “is a marvelous way of expressing emotion.”


THE FAUX MINIMALIST

This summer show brings three artists interested in the minimal worlds of video game imagery to an unlikely venue: the Nolita Cleaning Co. Organized by Rene Melchor and Gabrielle Segal, the exhibit features work of Timothy Hutchings, Lucia Love, and Matthew Stone.
